The building was built in 1880 by the architect Dulac to house the Montceau public boys schools. Five classrooms are laid out on two levels. The architecture with cut stone decorated with bricks compares with the the school buildings of the Mining Company, which are all identical. The interior incorporates the standards of lighting and hygiene demanded then for that sort of premises. The school house was recorded as supplements to the Historic Monuments in 1988.
